Life-Giving Blood

When my life was in jeopardy due to low hemoglobin, I researched hemoglobin. It's a protein found in red blood cells that delivers oxygen to every part of the body.
When God created Adam, He breathed the breath of life (oxygen) into him. Adam means “red Man” or “blood man.” Our bodies need blood and oxygen to live. “For the life of the flesh is in the blood”. This verse is about the life of the flesh, but it also points to spiritual life. It’s in His blood. Life is in the blood.
Some of the things the shed blood of Jesus accomplished:
· His blood redeemed us from the curses of sin & death.
· His blood is life-giving; it gives life & life abundant.
· His blood atones for and cleanses us from sin.
· His blood removes our sin “as far as the east from the west….”
· His blood makes us righteous.
· His blood offers us an eternal position of power & authority.
· His blood makes us overcomers.
· His blood accomplished so much more.
We must know what His blood provided and accomplished. “The devil comes to steal, kill, and destroy: (Jesus said), I came that you would have life and life abundant." The enemy wants to make sure we live below the blessings that Jesus’ shed blood secured for us. The word “comes” is in the present tense, meaning our enemy comes and keeps on coming. He is coming now to steal, kill, and destroy. Jesus “came” once (past tense) so that we could have life.
When Adam sinned, his blood and the bloodline of all future generations became polluted. The sin nature was introduced into the bloodline of man. Man became deserving of death (Romans 6:23). Blood is supposed to be about life, but sin polluted it, making it about death. Selah. Polluted blood brought the curses of sickness, mental illness, oppression, anxiety, fears, and all that the enemy uses to steal, kill, & destroy us. God said, “And when I passed by you, and saw you polluted in your own blood, I said unto you when you were in your blood, Live; yea, I said unto you when you were in your blood, Live!”
There was only one man born since Adam without polluted blood – Jesus Christ. It is His blood that paid the penalty for our sins (Hebrews 9:22). Our Father’s cry over us to “LIVE!” is available to us because of Jesus’ blood. “Life & life abundant” is ours through Him.
The enemy is constantly trying to steal (hope, peace, joy, etc.) from us, kill us (physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually), and destroy us through sin, which leads to spiritual death.
It’s our job to defend the blessings Jesus provided through His blood. We must conscientiously align our thoughts, words, and actions with the work of His blood.
Our physical lives depend on blood & oxygen. Likewise, our spiritual lives depend on blood & oxygen. In my next blog, I hope to explore the necessity of oxygen for spiritual life.
